mission to earth

1) Using "Mission to Earth" as an example, what is new or different about digital cinema compared to traditional film-making? Consider the story, the structure and the appearance of the film.

“Mission to Earth” filmed by Lev Manovich. The story is about a alien woman aims to record the life and things on earth. She was required by her boss to keep writing weekly reports. However, there is no one to read her reports but she had not given up to record what happened in the earth and what she has seen here.

Digital cinema refers to the use of digital technology to project or distribute the motion pictures as opposed to the historical use of motion picture film.Digital cinema is completely different from traditional film-making because there are a lot of special layout in the “Mission to Earth” scenes. It is special that there are a lot of windows on the screen showing different meaning and content videos and even the narration is not related. Also, there is a scene gives the image on “Composition with Red, Yellow, and Blue” y Piet Mondrian. It respires the audience think more through “Mission to earth”.

2. What other art forms (eg. early film, digital art, painting, websites etc) does this film remind you of? Explain each similarity.

mission to earth remind me of "the fight club".What is similar is that both of it did not send the message to readers directly through words or narration. In fight club, there always have some scence spring up suddenly and disappear immediately but the scence was important to the content of the whole movie. It is alike the mission to earth that it send the message in an unnormal way. Both of it are inspiring ,unique and impressed.
